Common questions

What does the book physically feel like?

It is a 8 × 8 inch hardcover, 28 interior pages on 170 gsm coated silk paper, with a matt-laminated wraparound cover. That paper weight is roughly double a typical magazine page, so the illustrations do not show through from the other side.

Why does a personalized book cost more than a book in a shop?

A shop book was printed tens of thousands of times from one file. Yours is written and illustrated for one named child and printed as a single copy, so it carries none of that scale. What you are paying for is a print run of one.

Are these real pages or a mockup?

These are the actual composed pages from the print file, exported from the same pipeline that sends the book to the printer. They are not photographs of a bound copy and not a 3D mockup.

How many pages have illustrations?

Twelve - one full-page illustration for each chapter, plus the wraparound cover. Every one is generated from the single photograph you upload, so the child is recognisably the same child on every page.

Will the illustrations look the same on paper as on screen?

Close, with one honest caveat: screens emit light and paper reflects it, so print is very slightly softer and deeper than a backlit screen. The files are prepared at print resolution with a full-bleed margin, which is why nothing important sits near the trimmed edge.
