Goodnight, Little Star is the slowest book in the catalogue, and that is deliberate. It says goodnight to the world in a set order, and the order does not change, which is what makes it usable as a nightly ritual rather than a story. It suits a baby who needs a wind-down and a four-year-old who has started stalling at the bedroom door.

Nought to six, and it is one of the few that truly works at nought. There is no plot to lose track of and no peril to settle afterwards. For a five or six-year-old it will read as young unless it is already the family ritual, in which case being young is exactly why it works.
