The eggs are hidden, but so is the map - and the map is drawn in a rabbit's handwriting, which is famously difficult to read.

A peek inside

How the adventure unfolds

These are just sample lines. Your book is written fresh for your child - their name woven through every page, with the words, sentence length and tone tuned to their age, and shaped by the story, interests and details you choose.

A map in rabbit handwriting: mostly squiggle, one recognisable tree, no scale at all.
Chapter One

A Very Bad Map

Your child found the map under the door, drawn in rabbit handwriting, which is famously impossible to read.

A map in rabbit handwriting: mostly squiggle, one recognisable tree, no scale at all.

Following the squiggle the wrong way round a garden, with an egg visible behind them.
Chapter Two

Following the Squiggle

The squiggliest line led through the hedge, past the shed, and straight into a bush full of quiet blue eggs.

Following the squiggle the wrong way round a garden, with an egg visible behind them.

The last egg found in the place the map genuinely did indicate, all along.
Chapter Three

The Last One

The very last egg was not on the map at all. It was sitting on the doorstep, waiting to be noticed.

The last egg found in the place the map genuinely did indicate, all along.

These three sample the opening, middle and ending of a 12-chapter book. All twelve are drawn with your child in them when the book is made: the cover and chapter one free in your preview, the remaining eleven once you order.

Is this the one?

Who the Bunny Left a Map is for

The Bunny Left a Map is the Easter book with a puzzle in it. The map is badly drawn, which is the joke and also the plot, and reading it wrongly is what makes the hunt take all morning. It suits a child who has done a straightforward egg hunt already and wants more from it.

Nought to eight, working best from four upward when a child can hold a map and a mistake at the same time. Below four it is a bunny book with pictures, which is fine. The reading level you choose at setup decides how much the squiggles are explained versus left for the reader to work out.

For Maya, who insisted the map was upside down and turned out to be entirely right.
Every book opens on a dedication page. You write your own - this is one that suits this story.

Common questions

What age is The Bunny Left a Map for?

The Bunny Left a Map is written for ages 0-8. The story is generated at the reading level you pick during setup, so the same book works at the younger or older end of that range.

How is The Bunny Left a Map personalized?

You upload one photo of your child. That photo becomes the illustrated hero - same face shape, hair and skin tone - and stays recognizable across all 12 chapters. Their name, age and a dedication are woven in too.

How long is the book, and what formats are there?

Twelve illustrated chapters, one full-page illustration per chapter. Digital is $14.90, softcover $38.90 and hardcover $42.90 plus shipping; the hardcover is a 8x8 inch matt-laminated keepsake.

Can I see it before I pay?

Yes. The cover and the whole first chapter - artwork included - are generated free. You only pay if you want the remaining eleven chapters.
