The Great Egg Hunt is a spring book with a bunny in it and no religious content, which is why some families choose it and others look elsewhere. The hunt is the whole structure: a clue, a meadow, another clue, a golden egg. It reads well outdoors and it is short enough for an excited morning.

Nought to eight, best from two to six. A toddler follows the bunny. A six-year-old works the clues a step ahead. Beyond that the hunt is too easy to hold, though the pictures still do. Reading level chosen at setup.
