A peek inside

How the adventure unfolds

These are just sample lines. Your book is written fresh for your child - their name woven through every page, with the words, sentence length and tone tuned to their age, and shaped by the story, interests and details you choose.

A driver's cab from the inside, levers at chin height, a very small hand on one of them.
Chapter One

All Aboard

The whistle sang, the wheels turned, and driver your child eased the great train out of the station.

A driver's cab from the inside, levers at chin height, a very small hand on one of them.

The bridge from below, the train crossing it, a river a long way down underneath.
Chapter Two

Over the High Bridge

Clickety-clack over the tallest bridge - your child waved at the river sparkling far below.

The bridge from below, the train crossing it, a river a long way down underneath.

Pulling in exactly on time, station clock visible, nobody on the platform yet.
Chapter Three

Right on Time

With one last proud toot, your child rolled the train home - right on time, like a true driver.

Pulling in exactly on time, station clock visible, nobody on the platform yet.

These three sample the opening, middle and ending of a 12-chapter book. All twelve are drawn with your child in them when the book is made: the cover and chapter one free in your preview, the remaining eleven once you order.

Is this the one?

Who the Little Train Driver is for

The Little Train Driver is the simplest of the vehicle stories and it is built for repetition. The train leaves, crosses a bridge, arrives on time, and that is the whole plot. It is the right book for a one or two-year-old who wants the same thing to happen every night, and the wrong one for a seven-year-old.

Nought to six, and honestly nought to four. The pleasure is rhythm and sound rather than story, which is durable at two and thin at six. Set the reading level low; this one is better short. A two-year-old will ask for it again the moment it ends, which is the real test.

For Adam, who knows the difference between the two lines and will explain it to you.
Every book opens on a dedication page. You write your own - this is one that suits this story.

Common questions

What age is The Little Train Driver for?

The Little Train Driver is written for ages 0-6. The story is generated at the reading level you pick during setup, so the same book works at the younger or older end of that range.

How is The Little Train Driver personalized?

You upload one photo of your child. That photo becomes the illustrated hero - same face shape, hair and skin tone - and stays recognizable across all 12 chapters. Their name, age and a dedication are woven in too.

How long is the book, and what formats are there?

Twelve illustrated chapters, one full-page illustration per chapter. Digital is $14.90, softcover $38.90 and hardcover $42.90 plus shipping; the hardcover is a 8x8 inch matt-laminated keepsake.

Can I see it before I pay?

Yes. The cover and the whole first chapter - artwork included - are generated free. You only pay if you want the remaining eleven chapters.
