Your child wiggled ten happy toes into the warm sand and raced the wind down to the water.
First step onto hot sand, one foot up, an expression that has not decided yet.

Bucket by bucket, your child built a sand tower so grand even the seagulls came to admire it.
A sand tower with a moat, seen at eye level, a crab approaching from the left.

The waves chased your child up the shore and back again, giggling salt and sunshine everywhere.
The wave arriving and everybody running, caught at the moment of turning.
These three sample the opening, middle and ending of a 12-chapter book. All twelve are drawn with your child in them when the book is made: the cover and chapter one free in your preview, the remaining eleven once you order.
The Great Beach Day is the least anxious book on the shelf. Nothing goes wrong, the crab is cheeky rather than pinching, and the sea plays tag instead of frightening anybody. It is a summer book and a good first sea book for a child who has been told the waves are dangerous.
Two to eight, best around three to six. The sandcastle chapter has enough construction detail to hold an older child for one read, but it is fundamentally a young book. Reading level chosen at setup. Read it before a first trip to the sea rather than after, when it does the most good.
For Noam, who ran at the sea, ran away from it, and repeated this for four hours.

The Great Beach Day is written for ages 2-8. The story is generated at the reading level you pick during setup, so the same book works at the younger or older end of that range.
You upload one photo of your child. That photo becomes the illustrated hero - same face shape, hair and skin tone - and stays recognizable across all 12 chapters. Their name, age and a dedication are woven in too.
Twelve illustrated chapters, one full-page illustration per chapter. Digital is $14.90, softcover $38.90 and hardcover $42.90 plus shipping; the hardcover is a 8x8 inch matt-laminated keepsake.
