What a class of personalized books costs
Per-book prices by class size, one delivery charge for the whole parcel, and the two ways it can be paid for. Everything on this page is the number the checkout will charge.
The buyer here is usually spending someone else's money and needs a figure she can put in an email before she can do anything else. So: the price per book falls as the class grows, there is one delivery charge for the whole class rather than one per book, and you decide whether the setting pays or the families do. Nothing is quoted here that the checkout will not honour.
Price per book, by class size
A hardcover is $39.47 a book from ten children, $37.75 from twenty and $36.47 from thirty. Below ten it is $40.76, which is the ordinary multi-book price rather than a penalty for being a small room.
The rate is worked out per book and then multiplied, which is why the total in the table is exactly what the card is charged. It matters more than it sounds: a discount taken off the subtotal instead rounds differently and quotes a price a few cents under the one you pay, and a price that rises between the page and the till reads as dishonesty.
The minimum is 5 children and the largest single class order is 120.
Delivery is one charge for the whole class
Every book in a class is printed as one batch and shipped to the setting in a single parcel, so there is one delivery charge no matter how many children are in it. It is quoted for your actual address before you pay - not estimated, not added later.
This is the thing that makes the format affordable at all. Thirty personalised books shipped individually would cost more in postage than the discount is worth, which is why the whole order waits until every book is ready rather than trickling out as each one finishes.
Option one: the setting pays
One payment from you covers the class, and the books are a gift from the setting to the children. This is the usual choice where there is a graduation budget, a parent committee, or a private nursery differentiating itself.
If a family never sends a photo you leave that child out when you print, and their book is refunded to you. You are not paying for seats nobody filled.
Option two: the families pay
The setting pays nothing and carries no risk. Each parent buys their own child's book from the link you send them, and the single delivery charge is divided evenly across the class so nobody pays more for postage than anybody else.
Most settings already run exactly this arrangement for school photographs, so it needs no explaining to your families. It is also the honest answer when there is no budget line: the alternative is not a cheaper keepsake, it is no keepsake.
When you pay, and what you see first
Payment is last. You choose a story, read a real chapter of it, enter your class list and see the full price - per book, class total and delivery - before there is a pay button anywhere on the screen.
Because every book is drawn to order, the class is paid for before the books are made. That is the one thing that cannot be reordered, and it is why everything you need in order to decide comes before it rather than after.

Common questions
Is there a discount for a bulk order?
Yes, and it is automatic - the price per book falls with the class size, from $39.47 at ten children to $36.47 at thirty. There is nothing to apply for and no quote to request.
Do we pay for delivery on every book?
No. One charge covers the whole class, because the books are printed as one batch and arrive in one parcel. It is quoted for your address before you pay.
What currency is it in?
US dollars. Cards outside the United States do the conversion at their own rate, and delivery to the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore is quoted before you pay.
Can we get an invoice or pay by purchase order?
Not yet - payment is by card at the moment. If your setting can only pay against an invoice, write to us and say so, because how many people ask is what decides whether we build it.
What happens to the money for a child whose photo never arrives?
It comes back. You leave that child out when you send the class to print and their seat is refunded to whoever paid for it - the setting or that family.
