Before Anyone Remembers
Long before there were grandchildren to tell it to, someone you love was already living the story.
The hero as a young person, long before any grandchildren, already wearing the same knowing smile.
Someone you love has a saying the whole family can recite, a recipe nobody wrote down and a story everyone has heard more than once. This book turns those into a legend with someone you love as its hero, the saying returning like a chorus, and the grandchildren drawn into the later chapters from their photos.

These are just sample lines. Your book is written fresh from your answers - their name woven through every page, and the three things you tell us quoted word for word in the chapters.

Long before there were grandchildren to tell it to, someone you love was already living the story.
The hero as a young person, long before any grandchildren, already wearing the same knowing smile.

Whenever things went wrong, someone you love said the same few words, and somehow things went right again.
A crowded kitchen, a wooden spoon raised mid-sentence, the famous saying clearly on its way.

Now the youngest ones say it too, slightly wrong, which someone you love pretends not to notice.
Grandchildren gathered close on a sofa, one of them repeating the saying, slightly wrong and very proud.
These three sample the opening, middle and ending of a 12-chapter book. All twelve are drawn with them in it when the book is made: the cover and chapter one free in your preview, the remaining eleven once you order.
A Family Legend is for a grandmother or grandfather whose sayings everybody already knows by heart. You give us the line they always say, the thing only they make or do, and the story they tell again and again, and the book is built on those, word for word. Up to three grandchildren can be drawn in beside them, so the youngest readers find themselves in the legend too.
The hero can be in their sixties or their nineties; the book is about what they pass on, not how old they are. It is read most often at a family gathering, aloud, with the grandchildren listening for the line they already know. Mothers and fathers suit it equally well when the sayings are theirs.
For Savta Leah, who always said there is no problem a pot of soup cannot shrink.

A Family Legend is a book about a grown-up, written in the voice of a gift book rather than a picture book. During setup you answer three short questions about them, and your answers are quoted word for word in the chapters.
You upload a photo of the person the book is about, choose man or woman, and they become the illustrated hero - same face shape, hair and skin tone - recognizable across all 12 chapters. Anyone else in the story is drawn from their own photo, and their name and a dedication are woven in too.
Twelve illustrated chapters, one full-page illustration per chapter. Digital is $16.90, softcover $44.90 and hardcover $49.90 plus shipping; the hardcover is a 8x8 inch matt-laminated keepsake.
Yes. The cover and the whole first chapter - artwork included - are generated free. You only pay if you want the remaining eleven chapters.
