The Year It Began
The world looked different the year someone you love arrived, and the first chapter is drawn to match it.
The birthday person as a small baby in a room furnished exactly the way homes looked that year.
Someone you love turns a big number this year, and this book walks through every decade that led here. The birth year sets the look of the early chapters, the things someone you love is known for run through the middle, and the story that always gets retold has a chapter of its own.

The birthday person as a small baby in a room furnished exactly the way homes looked that year.

By the middle of the book, anyone reading will know the habit someone you love is famous for.
Somewhere in their twenties, mid-stride on a city street, wearing what was briefly the height of fashion.

The last page looks forward, because someone you love is clearly nowhere near finished.
Today, blowing out a cake crowded with candles, looking entirely ready for the next ten years.
These three sample the opening, middle and ending of a 12-chapter book. All twelve are drawn with them in it when the book is made: the cover and chapter one free in your preview, the remaining eleven once you order.
Decade by Decade is the birthday book for a thirtieth, fortieth, fiftieth or sixtieth. You tell us the birth year, what they are known for, and the story that gets retold every time a few of you are together, and the chapters move through the decades in order until they arrive at today. Only the birthday person is drawn, so one photo is all it needs.
It works from thirty upward, and it gets better with every extra decade there is to cover. The birth year changes the clothes, the cars and the rooms in the early chapters, so a reader born in the seventies sees a different opening from one born in the nineties. It reads well at a party, passed around the table.
For Danny at fifty, who has told the camping story so often we all know the ending.

Decade by Decade is a book about a grown-up, written in the voice of a gift book rather than a picture book. During setup you answer three short questions about them, and your answers are quoted word for word in the chapters.
You upload a photo of the person the book is about, choose man or woman, and they become the illustrated hero - same face shape, hair and skin tone - recognizable across all 12 chapters. Anyone else in the story is drawn from their own photo, and their name and a dedication are woven in too.
Twelve illustrated chapters, one full-page illustration per chapter. Digital is $14.90, softcover $38.90 and hardcover $42.90 plus shipping; the hardcover is a 8x8 inch matt-laminated keepsake.
Yes. The cover and the whole first chapter - artwork included - are generated free. You only pay if you want the remaining eleven chapters.
